It’s 2019 and velvet, the fabric that keeps on giving, is here for its newest revival. Velvet’s rich, bold colors and versatile and durable nature mean it can be used in practically any style and space. As a result, velvet is one of the hottest trends in both interior design and fashion right now.
This timeless textile has been around for centuries. Originally reserved for nobility, it has always been seen as a luxurious fabric. Velvet trends have resurfaced over and over again in many different ways. In 2019, velvet has become one of the most sought-after fabrics for interior designers. Not only are we seeing velvet couches, chairs and other furniture, but velvet accessories, drapery and everything in between.
Do you want to try adding velvet to your home? Here’s some of our tips and tricks:
- Use deep jewel tones
Velvet’s rich and luxurious nature translates well in deep emeralds, sapphires and other jewel colors. In this inspiration board, we’ve chosen to use our emerald green velvet chairs as the main focal point.
2. Contrasting textures
Your space should be balanced with fabrics other than just velvet. This multi-dimensional fabric will really stand out when paired with patterns, other colors and other woven fabrics, just as we have done with this faux fur in the inspiration board.
3. Pair with a metal
Bringing in metal such as the gold we used, will add glimmers of light into your space. The warm tones of the gold combined with the cool green tones add the perfect contrast to this board. It’s almost as if emerald green and gold were made for each other.
