Patterns– With 2015 focused on solid color, patterns will be coming back from fabrics to wall coverings, to flooring. Geometric patterns will be popular for flooring and backsplashes. Bright graphics and florals will be popular for furnishings, fabric, and accents.
Minimalism with a Twist– Simplistic design with high functionality is becoming more and more popular. These spaces have a neutral color palette with a mix of textures and materials.
Neutrals– Creamy neutrals will be popular as color of the year for both Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore are shades of white – Alabaster (SW) and Simply White (BM).
Eclectic Interiors– Mixing styles and creating more eclectic combinations rather than sticking to one theme.
Organic Elements– Bringing nature inside using organic shapes and textures such as live edge wood furniture or stone wall finishings are very popular.
Eco-Friendly– Utilizing locally sourced and sustainable materials is going to be increasingly important in 2016. At Architectural Justice we use reclaimed wood for our furniture among other projects. We have designed our own band saw to slice the fallen trees and dry the wood using our hand built solar kilns.
Metallic and Metals– From pendant lights, wall finishes, to accessories, metallics can add warmth and richness to a space.
Artisan Goods– Unique pieces sourced from around the globe plus handmade items sourced locally will be sought after this year. More and more homeowners are gravitating towards decorating with unique pieces that tell a story.
